The biggest portion of the tourist masses in Slovenia are directed towards Ljubljana, the Alpine lakes or the Mediterranean destinations.
Of the Alpine lakes, Bohinj and Bled are situated close to the Triglav National Park. Lake Bled is a very popular destination with plenty of local inhabitants as well as tourist services around.
The area of Lake Bohinj is more quiet but has a small village on its southeastern corner. The whole Triglav National Park is a popular destination for active holidays both in summer and winter.

Although Slovenia is a small country, the weather changes somewhat between its eastern and the western parts. The destinations by the coast have a typical Mediterranean climate, the Alpine regions in the north have a mountain climate, and the climate around Ljubljana somewhere in between.
The best time for a visit is between spring and autumn. Mid-summers have the highest precipitation, but it tends to rain hard and in the afternoons.
Yet, Slovenia is often referred to as the sunny side of the Alps, as any country with a mountain climate is sure to get its share of the rain. In Ljubljana, the annual precipitation is the highest in Europe.
Slovenia is the most expensive of the former Yugoslavian countries and more expensive than any of the countries in eastern Europe. Slovenian price level is close to that of Central Europe.
Slovenia is a safe country for traveling.
There’s a risk of ticks when moving in the nature. If you’re wearing only summer gear, it is advisable to avoid areas with high grass and forest.
